Q: Can your clinic directly bill to my health insurance provider?
A: Our clinic does not directly bill to insurance. We do provide all of our patients with a detailed invoice to submit to your insurance.
Q: How do I know if I am covered for chiropractic care?
A: Most extended health benefits plans cover chiropractic care. As each individual plan is different, we recommend contacting your insurance provider to find out how much chiropractic care you are covered for per annual year. MSP does not cover chiropractic services, however if you are on MSP Premium Assistance you are entitled to reimbursement of $23 per each visit out of 10 visits per annual year. If you are on MSP Premium Assistance, let one of our receptionists know and they will submit your visit to MSP for you and then you can expect a cheque in the mail for the $23 per visit.
Q: What can I expect during my first chiropractic visit?
A: An initial consultation is a 45 minute one on one session with our chiropractor, Dr. Zybutz, where he will go over your medical history and examine the area(s) of concern to determine what kind of treatment will be best suited for you for your recovery.
Q: What is Physiotherapy?
A: Physiotherapists are licensed health care professionals with an important role in health promotion and the treatment of acute and chronic conditions. We have an in-depth knowledge of how the body works and the mechanics necessary for optimal functioning. With a client centered-approach, we use evidence informed knowledge to assess, treat, educate, and empower our clients to promote independence and improve quality of life. Please refer to the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia for more information.
Q: What is Pelvic Floor physiotherapy?
A: Pelvic floor physiotherapy may involve both an internal and external examination of the muscles and structures of the pelvis. A vaginal or rectal exam may be performed to assess the muscle strength, tone, tension, and overall functioning of the pelvic floor musculature. Commonly treated conditions include incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pregnancy, general postpartum health, painful intercourse/penetration, diastasis recti, low back pain, sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction, core function, pelvic girdle pain, coccyx/tailbone pain, C-section recovery, and more!
Q: What is Clinical Pilates
A: Clinical pilates involves a focus on breathing, posture, core strength, balance, flexibility, and awareness of the self. At Life Integrative, our therapists work one-on-one with you, using the principles of STOTT pilates to assist in treating common conditions that include: low back pain, hip pain, SI joint pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, and more! Clinical pilates is an excellent complementary treatment option for pelvic health and prenatal/postpartum rehab. Please note at this time, Life Integrative is only able to offer clinical mat pilates.
Q: What should I expect at my initial pelvic floor physiotherapy assessment?
A: At your initial assessment, we will gather a detailed medical history and discuss the reason for your visit today. In order for us to be most informed about you and to find the best approach for individualized, optimal care, we may ask questions regarding your past medical history, surgical history, medications, obstetric history, pelvic health, treatment goals, and occupation etc. We understand and recognize that this is not easy and we will do our best to make you as informed and comfortable as you can be during your visit. After our discussion, we will do a physical assessment, which may include an internal pelvic exam (vaginal and/or rectal). All of this information will aid in designing an individualized treatment plan best suited for you to work towards achieving your goals.
Q: What do I wear for my appointment?
A: It is advised to wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing that is able to expose the area to be assessed or treated by the therapist if needed.
Q: Are pelvic floor physiotherapy services and clinical pilates covered by extended health insurance?
A: Yes, many extended health care plans cover physiotherapy services, inclusive of pelvic floor physio and clinical pilates. Please check with your insurance provider to have an understanding of your plan coverage prior to beginning treatments so you are informed.
Q: What is the cancellation policy?
A: At Life Integrative, we have a 24 hour cancellation or missed appointment policy. If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, we require 24 hours notice in order to avoid a fee.
Q: What types of payments do you accept?
A: We accept any kind of payment for chiropractic, naturopathic medicine, and physiotherapy. Our registered massage therapists are cash, debit, or cheque only. In the case that you do not have any of those with you, we still could take a visa/mastercard payment, but it would just be a 3% extra charge.
