Your feelings and emotions are not going to disappear by stuffing them down. In fact, inevitably they will reappear, stronger.
A better bet is to “ride the wave”, as they say. FEEL the emotion. ACKNOWLEDGE it (“I am feeling x”). Let it crest then come back down. Get a little uncomfortable in it; know that it’s short lived; and then LET IT GO.
